Support the IIRE

Our Institute was founded by Ernest Mandel in 1982 and has been very active since then. For over three decades, the IIRE has been organising educational courses, seminars and debates, aimed at social and political activists from all around the world.

Recently, we made some important progress. First, we moved to a completely new building and improved our infrastructure. During the six years in our new home, hundreds of people from across the globe have attended our sessions. These sessions are extremely useful for our participants, giving them tools to understand a changing world and change it for the better. Participants have described the schools as 'very rich and important places' to 'form an internationalist perspective' and as a valuable opportunity to learn from 'struggles of the peoples from around the globe'.

We have made strong progress in our work. Our lectures are now recorded and streamed in video on our website, giving an unprecedented outreach to our activities and ideas. This way, our website is becoming a valuable activist resource that can be accessed worldwide. We have succeeded in considerably widening our publication program: we are publishing several books each year, ranging from reprints of classical texts to original works on topics ranging from economic analysis to feminist theory.

We feel our work has taken on a new urgency in the last years. Global events like the economic recession, the rise of anti-austerity protests, the ecological crisis and the Arab rebellions pose new questions for activists and demand that we come together to think and to act. The IIRE is an excellent platform for this – but to make the most of the opportunities we have, we need your help.

We are looking for people who can commit to supporting us with donations. Monthly donations are especially welcome.

We are hopeful you will consider supporting us and help spread the campaign!

Please contribute and help to spread the campaign!

What will the money be used for?
Monthly donations help ensure the long-term financial sustainability of the IIRE, enabling the staff to further develop our effort to renew Marxist thought through seminars and schools, educating new generations of activists and continuing and expanding our publication line.

Please contact us if you have any questions. You are of course welcome to visit us at the IIRE and discuss our different activities and possibilities.

Regular donations are especially welcome. By donating 25 euro per month, you will receive a free subscription to all the IIRE publications series, as well as a copy of our most recently published books.

Or make a donation of any amount you like:

The IIRE has brand new and top modern meeting and conference facilities with translation equipment, wireless internet. We also have bedrooms and a big kitchen available.

For more information on rental of our facilities see  http://www.iire.nl/

As an activist organisation, the IIRE regularly collaborates with voluntary interns who support the institute's project. Interns assist the regular staff of the IIRE in daily work like the maintenance of the library and organising courses or cooperate on special projects. They are housed at the IIRE where they work on a part-time basis. This gives interns the opportunity to combine their work with others projects, like research.

We are always happy to hear from people who share our values and are interested in an internship.

We are also always looking for volunteers who want to support us from home. If you want to contribute to our work, please contact us.

At the moment we are especially looking for volunteers and interns

  • to help with proofreading texts in French, English or Spanish
  • with experience in fundraising
  • with knowledge of (book)design

Donations from friends and comrades have made an essential contribution to the building of our library. We are always looking ways to expand our collection. We are especially interested in works on the workers movement, the radical Left and revolutionary thought. Donating books to the IIRE library is a great way to ensure they are well kept and remain accessible. Our main working languages are English, French and Spanish but we are interested in texts in other languages as well. Do you have new or old books that might be interesting for us? Then please contact us.
