James D. Cockcroft

 A bilingual award-winning author of more than 40 books and countless articles on Latin America, Mexico, globalization, and labor migration, Dr. James D. Cockcroft (Ph.D., Stanford University, 1966) has been described by the American Library Association's Choice magazine as "an internationally known and distinguished scholar." A bilingual poet and life-long human rights activist, he is best known as a Latin America expert, writer, and public speaker. His multilingual blog is  www.jamescockcroft.com.

A three-time Fulbright Scholar, Internet professor for the State University of New York, and honorary editor of Latin American Perspectives, he serves on the international coordinating committee for the Networks of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity - http://www.humanidadenred.org/ . A Canadian immigrant, he is a member of the UNESCO-sponsored World Council of the José Martí World Solidarity Project, the International Committee for the Freedom of the Cuban Five, la Coalition Venezuela Nous Sommes Avec Toi, and the Canada-Cuba Literary Alliance. 

He writes for the Mexico City daily La Jornada and such internet sites as www.Rebelion.org and http://www.telesurtv.net/ . His latest book is “Why? ¿Por qué? Pourquoi?”, a bilingual collection of poems with all royalties going to the families of the Cuban Five (Hidden Brook Press, 2009, http://www.hiddenbrookpress.com/b-Why-JamesC.html ).
