IIRE Islamabad

The International Institute for Research and Education (IIRE) Islamabad is an independent chapter of IIRE Amsterdam. IIRE Islamabad is established in 2010 in collaboration with Amsterdam office. Now the institute is functioning independently with the aim to develop a cadre of political, human rights and peace activists to strengthen the democratic and progressive environment for the development of society.

She is a collaborator of the mothly review Le monde diplomatique and author of "Ruptures à Cuba".

susan08.jpgFormerly our co-director (2000-2004), Dr. Caldwell is a long-time internationalist revolutionary feminist and political and trade-union activist. She was a regional leader for the World March of Women and author of the forthcoming book “A Primer on Women and Revolution: Gendered Class Analysis and a New Praxis” (Mexico City: Jorale Editores S.A. de C.V., 2011). Her lectures and workshops in Europe, Mexico and Cuba have covered such topics as Women’s Liberation and Class Analysis; Social Science Research Methodologies; and Interdisciplinary Approaches to Teaching on the Internet. Dr. Caldwell taught psychology at Dawson College in Montréal for 30 years as well as online courses for State University of New York on critical historical perspective to the news media for 10 years.

A leader of Gauche socialiste in Québec, she now is active in Québec solidaire. She retired in 2005 to focus on writing … and enjoying her 11 grandchildren, especially her youngest granddaughter Maya who lives with Susan’s son Omar and his partner Nathalie just next door.

bensaidDaniel Bensaïd (né en 1946 à Toulouse) est un universitaire français, philosophe et militant. Professeur de philosophie à l'Université Paris VIII - Saint-Denis. Il a commencé a militer pendant le mouvement étudiant de 1968 où il a joué un rôle important. Il est surtout connu pour ses études sur Walter Benjamin, Karl Marx et le post-modernisme français.

Daniel a largement écrit et contribue aux débats internationaux sur la stratégie anticapitaliste et ses perspectives. La plupart de ses écrits sont en français, mais certains sont aussi disponibles en espagnol, italien, anglais, portuguais, allemand, turc, vietnamien et japonais.
