Written by

The International Institute for Research and Education celebrated its 25 years anniversary in 2007, as it underwent the most radical relaunch of its history.  Along with the physical move of the IIRE a far-reaching relaunch was intended, which now is in its early stages.

Arriving to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport you should take the train to Amsterdam Central Station. From the Central Station you have two options:

  • Take bus no. 22 in the direction of "Indische Buurt" and get off at the Javaplein stop (roughly 20 minutes ride). From here you walk by Borneostraat, the second street to the right is Lombokstraat, and you will immediately see the former school that now houses the institute (see the map). A bus ticket can be bought on the bus.
  • Take the train from Amsterdam Central Station to Amsterdam Muiderpoort. This is a short 5 minutes ride, but leaves you with 10 minutes walk from the station to the Institute (see the map) A train ticket can be bought from Schiphol (and any other station in the Netherlands) to Muiderpoort. If you arrive with Thalys or ICE you need to buy a new ticket at Amsterdam CS.
  • If you will be somewhere in Amsterdam city centre, tramway number 14 (Direction Flevopark) runs through Jordaan, via Dam Square and Waterlooplein to the Institute. Get off at Zeeburgerdijk, from where you can see the building.
We do not have dedicated parking spaces, but it is possible to park in the street. There is a 2,10 euro parking fee per hour, or 12,60 euro for the entire day. After 19.00 and on Sundays parking is free.
